The British defense company Babcock International has purchased 11 L-39 Albatros training aircraft to enhance the capacity of its pilot training academy. The information was disclosed on the company’s official website.
Origin and Purpose of the Aircraft
The L-39 aircraft, manufactured in the former Czechoslovakia, were acquired from the French company Apache Aviation. These aircraft were previously part of the civilian aerobatic team Breitling Jet Team, renowned for their impressive aerial maneuvers.
The L-39 will now be used at the Babcock Academy, located at a former French Air Force base in the city of Dijon. The academy offers specialized programs, including:
- Training and retraining of fighter pilots.
- Certification of instructors.
- Training of specialists in aircraft guidance (JTAC).
Excellence in Training with NATO Standards
The courses at Babcock Academy are designed and taught by former French Air Force pilots and adhere to NATO’s standard operating procedures. The academy is renowned for its high-quality and precise approach to training elite pilots.
With this acquisition, Babcock reinforces its commitment to providing advanced training for military pilots and instructors, while also supporting allied armed forces with modern and effective programs.
