The landing took place during Exercise Cooperación IX, on May 11th. Coordinated by the Peruvian Air Force (FAP), the exercise brings together air forces from 12 American countries between May 8th and 19th, with the aim of training integration in natural disaster scenarios such as earthquakes and hurricanes.
According to the FAB, the high elevations surrounding the city, the thin air (which can affect engine power, approach speeds, and aircraft braking capacity), as well as the absence of air navigation aids in the area, required a careful analysis of the aircraft’s performance capabilities.
Performance and meteorology evaluations were also conducted to maximize the cargo and passenger capacity to be transported.
