“The Buk is designed to hit aerial, ballistic targets, as well as cruise missiles, airplanes, and helicopters,” explains the deputy commander of the battery and head of calculations with the codename “Altai.”
“Right now, our task is to protect Russian troops’ units from enemy aviation.”
“We are handling the task. The last time we worked on an unmanned aerial vehicle was a day ago, and we successfully hit it. We work around the clock, trying not to let any targets pass by us,” adds the anti-aircraft gunner.
The second operator of the “Buk” anti-aircraft missile system, with the codename “Major,” monitors the stable tracking of targets and adjusts the complex equipment.
“All our actions are coordinated; we all work together, complementing each other. We have learned a lot here,” says the military personnel.
“I have served for a long time, but I learned a lot here, in real actions, saw many real things. We learned to shoot down different types of targets. We shot down ‘Olha’ and ‘Uragan’ rocket launch systems. I believe the sky is locked,” adds the mechanic-driver of the “Buk” anti-aircraft missile system with the codename “Dobryi.”
